Raise an RFI
Ask a formal question from the project RFIs register or from Mail, with reviewers, referenced documents, priority, and a response deadline.
1 min read
Raising an RFI takes a minute: say what you need to know, pick who owes the answer, attach the documents it concerns, and set a deadline. Here is the full form, field by field.
Open the form
- 1
In the sidebar, open Projects, open your project, then RFIs.
- 2
Click Raise RFI.

- 3
Prefer starting from your inbox? Open Mail, click Compose, then choose New RFI. Both routes open the same form.
Fill it in
- 1
Write a Subject that states the question in one line, like "Confirm rebar spacing at grid C4".
- 2
Pick your Reviewers (ball in court): the people who owe the answer. Add Watchers for anyone who should follow along without owning it.

Write the Question with everything the assignee needs to answer without coming back to you. Add a Suggested answer if you have one in mind.
- 4
Attach Referenced documents so the assignee opens the exact drawings and revisions you mean.

Set the Priority (Urgent, High, Medium, or Low) and the Response required by date, then flag Cost impact and Schedule impact if the answer could move money or dates. Send it.

A suggested answer speeds everything up
If you write "we propose 200mm centres unless advised otherwise", the assignee can often just confirm. A yes or no comes back much faster than an essay.
Flag Cost impact and Schedule impact honestly. They tell the assignee how urgent the answer really is: overstate them and real emergencies get lost, understate them and your blocker sits in a queue.
