Configure transmittal reasons and distribution lists
Define the Reason for issue options your teams pick when issuing transmittals, and build reusable recipient groups.
1 min read
Two lists in Projects settings shape every transmittal your teams send: Transmittal reasons decide why documents go out, and Distribution lists decide who gets them without anyone typing names one by one.
Transmittal reasons
When someone issues a transmittal, the issue modal asks for a Reason for issue. The options in that dropdown come from this list.
- 1
In workspace settings, open Projects settings, then Transmittal reasons.

Click a cell to edit a reason in place, or add a new one. Changes save per row.
Keep reasons short and standard
A tight list like For Construction, For Review, For Information, and For Approval keeps transmittals consistent and filterable. Ten overlapping reasons means nobody picks the same one twice.
Distribution lists
A distribution list is a reusable group of recipients. Instead of picking the same fifteen people every time a drawing set goes out, your teams pick one list in the issue modal and everyone on it is included.
- 1
In workspace settings, open Projects settings, then Distribution lists.
- 2
Create a list, name it for how it will be used, and add its members.

One list, picked once, instead of fifteen names typed every issue.
Build lists around how documents actually flow: one per discipline, like Structural reviewers, or one per organisation, like everyone at the client. There is more on managing them in Distribution lists.
