Compose mail, RFIs, and transmittals from the inbox
Use the Compose button to raise an RFI or issue a transmittal without leaving Mail.
1 min read
You do not have to leave your inbox to start correspondence. The Compose button at the top of the mailbox rail raises an RFI or issues a transmittal right where you are.
Start from Compose
- 1
Open Mail in the sidebar.
- 2
Click Compose at the top of the mailbox rail, then pick New RFI or New Transmittal.

Fill in the form and send. If you close it before sending, your work waits in Drafts.
New RFI
New RFI opens the same form you get from a project RFI register: pick the project, address the RFI to the person who owes the answer, ask the question, and set a response date. When you send it, the RFI lands in the recipient's Inbox and shows in your Sent and RFIs mailboxes.

For the full field-by-field guide, see Raise an RFI.
New Transmittal
New Transmittal works the same way: pick the project, choose the recipients, attach documents from the register, and give the reason for issue. The transmittal goes out on the record, and each recipient sees it in their inbox.

Tip
Composing from Mail is the fast path when a reply sparks a follow-up. Read the incoming message in the reading pane, then raise the RFI it calls for without switching context.
